(Henderson, TN) -- The Trevecca softball team (30-12, 9-7) split
with Freed-Hardeman University (16-18, 4-14) in a key TranSouth
Conference doubleheader.
(Game 1) -- Lady Trojan sophomore Hollie Shane was untouchable in
the first game giving up only two hits in her 5th shutout of the
season as Trevecca defeated the Lady Lions 1-0. Sophomore Rone'
Phelps smacked a double in the third inning to score the only run of
the game. Shane (16-6) fired her 18th complete game of the season in
the winning effort.
(Game 2) -- Freed-Hardeman grabbed the lead with a run in the
first inning of the second game but Trevecca came back with two of
their own in the third thanks to a Jami Toomey RBI triple to take a
2-1 lead. The Lady Lions, however, matched Trevecca with two of
their own in the bottom half of the inning and added one more run in
the sixth inning for good measure to take the victory 4-2. Freed-Hardeman's
Tracie Tiensvold (9-7) got the complete game win while Lady Trojan
Wendy Allen (9-5) took the loss. Meredith Watkins, this week's
TranSouth Conference Player of the Week, went 2 for 3 with a double
in the losing effort.
