(Jackson, Tenn.) -- NAIA No. 26 Trojans (20-2,
3-1) visited No. 9 Union (17-5, 3-1) on Thursday in an early
conference battle for first place.
(Game One) -- Trevecca started the battle by upsetting the home
standing Bulldogs 2-1 in the opener. Hollie Shane improved to 10-1
with the three-hit performance. Courtney Dickens hit her first
career homer in the game. Trevecca played errorless defense and
scratched out another run with eight total hits in the game.
Trevecca's Courtney Alexander walked to open the fourth inning.
Meredith Watkins singled moving Alexander to second. Evyn Terry
grounded out to third moving Watkins and Alexander up a base.
Jennifer Arnold followed with a one out RBI single to plate the
first run of the game. Union answered with a solo home run by
Jessica Kee in the bottom of the fifth, then Trevecca got the
winning run on Courtney Dickens first career home run in the top of
the sixth inning.
(Game Two) -- Union bounced back for a 7-0
shutout of Trevecca in the second game. Trevecca managed only a
single by Rone' Phelps and a walk. Lisa Hethorn (5-1) suffered her
first loss of the year.
Trevecca will play at Cumberland University
(5-11, 0-2) in Lebanon on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Trevecca will host No.
19 Lee University (16-4, 0-0) on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
The Lady Trojans softball game scheduled for Tuesday, February 18
at home against Lindsey Wilson College has been postponed till April
16 at 3pm. Trevecca will play at Lindsey Wilson College on April 2nd
at 3pm.
