(Lady Trojan Field) -- After several rainouts, the Lady Trojans
finally opened the 2003 season on Saturday with a doubleheader
against Culver Stockton College.
(Game 1) - Trevecca started the season in dramatic fashion with a
come from behind extra inning 5-4 win over Culver-Stockton College.
Trevecca trailed 4-0 after 3 innings, but started the rally in the
4th with a single run. In the 6th Trevecca scored 3 runs to tie the
game. Wendy Allen hit a 2-run homer that tied the game at 4.
Trevecca then managed to hold the Wildcats and score a run in the
first extra inning. Wendy Allen started the game and Hollie Shane
provided relief got the win, her first of the year. The
Trojans managed just 5 hits, while the Wildcats scattered 12.
(Game 2) Trevecca didn't waste much time getting the advantage.
In the bottom of the 2nd the Trojans scored two runs and never
looked back. Trevecca added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th.
The 4-0 victory improves Trevecca to 2-0 on the season. Trevecca had
6 hits, while Hollie Shane and Lisa Hethorn held Culver-Stockton to
3 hits in the shutout. Shane (2-0) gets the win and Hethorn earned
her first save of the year.
The Ladies will host Freed-Hardeman for the TranSouth conference
opener on Monday at 2:00 p.m.
