(Nashville, Tenn.) -- Trevecca started hot (hit 9-of-15 first
half three-pointers), but found the Blue Devils wouldn't go away
without a fight. Trevecca eventually pulled away in the final minute
to seal a 84-73 victory.
Dillard University led Trevecca 8-2 after two minutes of play.
The Blue Devils from New Orleans then saw Trevecca rally with a 27-7
run that put Trevecca up 29-15 with 10 minutes to go in the first
half. Trevecca would go on to hold a 18 point lead before settling
for a 15 point 48-33 lead at the halftime break.
In the second half Dillard showed they wouldn't roll over. The
Blue Devils, who advanced to the NAIA National Tournament last year,
went on a 11-1 run to start the second half and pulled to within
five (49-44) with 17:12 remaining. Trevecca bounced back and extend
their lead to double figures a couple of times but couldn't silence
the Blue Devils. With 1:35 remaining Dillard closed the game to
three (72-69). Trevecca answered with six straight points to seal
the win.
Trevecca's Wes Poe had another double-double with 16 points and
13 rebounds. Poe also was credited with 6 steals, 2 blocks and
assist. Will Partin led the team with 19 points, Darryl Keckler
scored 17 and had 5 assists. Brandon Howard scored 10 and had 4
steals.
Next: Trevecca will host the Trojan Boosters Endowment Classic on
January 3rd and 4th.
