Olivet Nazarene hit a running lay-up as time expired to defeat
Trevecca 67-65 in the final game of the Trojan Boosters Endowment
Classic in memory of Earnestine Morgan Richardson.
Trevecca came from behind to claim a 33-31 halftime advantage and
started the second half with a 11-0 run in building their largest
lead of the game at 13. Olivet answered with a 27-10 run that gave
the Tigers a 58-54 lead with 4:30 remaining in the game. Trevecca
fought back and tied the game with 7.8 seconds remaining on Darryl
Keckler's 6th three pointer of the game. Olivet went the length of
the court and Alan Hird hit a running layup as time expired to give
Olivet the victory.
Darryl Keckler had an outstanding game as he scored 18 points to
lead the Trojans. Darryl hit 6 of 8 three pointers and dished out 4
assists. Marshall Hyler also added 11 points for the Trojans. Marko
Kandic pulled 7 rebounds and Wesley Poe grabbed 5 boards to pace
Trevecca. For the game, Trevecca shot 43.4% from the field and 37.5%
from three point range. The Trojans were outrebounded 33-26 and they
committed 20 turnovers.
Trevecca will travel to New Orleans to face Dillard University on
Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Earlier in the day Shorter College defeated Geneva College 80-76.
