(Jackson Field) -- The Trevecca baseball team (27-17, 8-10)
defeated NAIA No. 4 Tennessee Wesleyan (32-3) in a close pitcher's
dual by a final score of 3-2.
Tennessee Wesleyan's Elijah Miller led the game off with a solo
homer on the second pitch of the game to take an early 1-0 lead.
Trevecca matched the run in the bottom half of their inning and the
score remained deadlocked at 1-1 for most of the game. Finally, the
Bulldogs broke the tie on a Braden Conner solo home run to lead off
the seventh inning. Trevecca countered with two runs in the bottom
half of the inning led by Eric Reid's two run triple. Reid went 2
for 4 in the game with a single, triple, one run scored, a stolen
base, and two RBIs as Trevecca went on to win 3-2. Trojan Todd
Dunlap threw eight and two thirds innings giving up only two runs on
five hits for his 4th win of the season while B.J. Jenkins blew
three fastballs by the final batter to get the save.
