(Jackson Field) -- Trevecca (15-8) swept a pair of games from
Montreat College (5-14) on Wednesday at Jackson Field.
(Game One) -- After Montreat scored a run in the top of the 1st
Trevecca shut the door and put 18 runs on the board over the next 5
innings. Trevecca scored 18 runs for the second game in a row. They
defeated Campbellsville 18-2 in the second game of a double header
on Tuesday. Trevecca scored two in the bottom of the first to gain
the lead, then shut the door with a eight run second inning.
Trevecca pounded out 17 hits as Luke Howell led the way going 3 for
3 with 2 runs and 2 rbi. Howell, who hit three homers last week, had
a double and a homer, his 4th of the year. Todd Dunlap improved to
1-2 as he pitched the complete game four hitter. Craig Ballentine
and Kyle Felts also homered for the Trojans.
(Game Two) -- Trevecca hit double figures on the scoreboard for
the third consecutive game with a 12-10 victory over the visiting
Cavaliers. Montreat scored two runs in each of the first three
innings, but Trevecca answered with four in the first and three in
the third. Trevecca sealed the victory with five in the fifth. Both
teams had 12 hits and two errors. Colby Rainey produced the offense
with three runs and four rbi. Rainey was 2 for 3 with a walk. Rainey
had a double and hit his fifth homer. Rainey is batting .421 on the
year. Shawn Sabo (2-0) relieved starter Lee Thompson in the third to
earn his second win of the year. Nathan Brown pitched the final two
innings earning his second save.
Trevecca will spend Friday and Saturday in conference play at
Freed-Hardeman.
