(Clarksville, Tenn.) -- Austin Peay
got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the first-inning as
Dustin Smith was the first of three APSU pitchers to combine for a
10-0 no-hit victory versus Trevecca Thursday afternoon at Raymond C.
Hand Park.
Smith (1-0) went the first six innings, striking out seven and
walking only one, as the Governors (2-0) broke open a 1-0 contest
open in the bottom of the sixth inning with six runs to put the game
away going up 7-0. Scott Steinbrecher and Brad Daniel pitched the
seventh and eighth innings allowing only one baserunner to reach to
complete the no-hitter. Trevecca dropped to 8-3 on the season.
Trevecca will return to action as they to Chattanooga, Tennessee
to play at Tennessee Temple. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. at
historic Engel Stadium.
Trevecca's games with Sienna Heights have been cancelled for this
weekend. There could be a game or two added with a local team if the
weather holds off Friday or Saturday. Check the Trevecca baseball
schedule on the website for any additions.
