TREVECCA VS. CRICHTON


Moore Gym (11/27/01) - The Trevecca Men's Basketball team played strong from start to finish in defeating Crichton 107-72. 

The Trojans built a 25 point lead at halftime and never looked back. You would have never known the final result if you had walked out of the gym with 13:34 remaining in the first half. The Cardinal's had built a 12-7 lead and looked to be working to build on it. Trevecca rallied and ran off a 37-6 run over the next 12:09 to put the game away leading 44-18 (26 point lead) with 1:25 remaining in the half. Trevecca would hold a 47-22 lead at the break.
Trevecca would continue their role as the second half started. The Trojans outscored Crichton 42-27 over the first 11 minutes of the second half to claim a 40 point (89-49) lead. That would equal their largest lead of the game. Trevecca would settle for a 107-72 victory in their first ever meeting with Crichton College of Memphis.

The Trojans had a strong night shooting the basketball as they shot 51% (41-80) for the game. The Trojans also shot 42% (8-19) from the 3 point line. Trevecca out rebounded Crichton 58 -35 and dominated almost every phase of the game in their 35 point victory. Trevecca also played a very strong defensive game forcing 21 Crichton turnovers, and holding the cardinals to 37% shooting for the game. The Cardinal's only hit 2 of 19 three-point attempts.

Marshall Hyler led the Trojans with 16 points. Sophomore David Stark had a strong game and wound up one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman Wesley Poe finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds and B.T. Warren added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the Trojans. The Trojans improve to 5-2 on the season.
