TREVECCA VS. JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY
Marietta, GA (11/24/01) - Trevecca looked to bounce back into the winning column as they faced John Carroll in their second of two games in the Southern Polytechnic Classic in Marietta, Georgia and they did just that, winning 91-81.
Trevecca struggled for most of the first half, falling behind 42-21 with 3:54 remaining in the first half. The Trojans cut the lead to just 8 by halftime with a 16-4 run.
The Trojans came out cold in the second half and John Carroll pulled away to a 17 point lead (60-43) with 15:26 remaining in the game after starting the half with a 15-6 run. The Trojans closed the gap to just 1 point (66-65) with 9:42 to go in the game. The Blue Streaks pulled away again with a 5-0 run that gave them a 6 point (71-65) lead with 7:52 to go. Trevecca regrouped again and took their first lead of the game with a 9-2 run. Trevecca found themselves ahead 74-73 with 4:45 remaining in the game. Trevecca would never trail again and outscored John Carroll 1708 over the final minutes to claim the 91-81 victory.
Trevecca was led by Will Partin who finished with 22 points and Darryl Keckler who scored 13 points while knocking down 3 three-pointers. Partin also led the team with 5 steals and hit 4 of 8 three point attempts. Wesley Poe had a team high 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Freshman guard Brandon Howard also had a big night for the Trojans, as he chipped in 10 points, a team high 6 assists and 3 steals. Marshall Hyler scored 15 points and had 3 assists and 2 steals. David Stark scored 12 points and hit 6 of 7 shots in sparking the team to the come from behind victory off the bench.
