Mt. Berry, GA (01/31/02) - The Trevecca Men's Basketball team lost another
heartbreaker on Thursday night at Berry, 90-85. The Berry Vikings were on fire
in the first half as they shot a blazing 63.3% from the field on 19 of 30
shooting and 76.9% from the three point line on 10 of 13 shooting. While the
Trojans also shot the ball well in the first half, at 51.7%, they trailed at
halftime 53-40.
Trevecca managed to fall behind by 18 early in the second half, but they
managed to slowly cut into Berry's lead as the game wore down. The Trojans cut
the lead to 4 with three minutes remaining and tied the game at 83 all with 1
minute remaining, but in the end they couldn't hang on as they lost by 5.
Will Partin had an excellent game for the Trojans as he scored 24 points on
9 of 17 shooting from the field and 6 of 12 shooting form the three point line.
Partin also had 5 assists in the game. Wesley Poe scored 18 points for
Trevecca, and added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Poe's 2 blocks gives
him 42 on the season and breaks the previous season record of 40 set by Dave
Bansek during the 1990-91 season. Darryl Keckler also had a strong game for the
Trojans as he scored 17 points, including 5 three pointers.
The Trojans shot 51.6% from the field on 33 of 64 shooting and shot 41.2%
from the three point line on 14 of 34 shooting, but Berry shot 53% from the
field and 59% from three point range in taking the victory.
