Nashville, TN (01/02/02) - Trevecca advanced to the championship game of the Trojan Boosters Endowment Memorial Classic in honor of Fred Harris with a 97-91 victory over Belhaven College of Jackson, Mississippi. Trevecca improved their all-time advantage over the Blazers to 6-2 and are now 11-4 on the season. Trevecca defeated Belhaven 98-80 on November 19, 2001 in Jackson, Mississippi.

Trevecca started the game with a 7-0 run that Belhaven answered with a 9-0 run before Trevecca rallied with a 10-2 run which led to Belhaven rolling off a 10-2 run. When all the back and forth action ended Belhaven found themselves up 21-19 with 10:26 to go in the first half. That would also be the final lead of the game for the Blazers. Trevecca finished the first half with a 33-22 run that gave them a 52-43 halftime lead.

Trevecca started the second half with another run and held a double digit lead till the 6:47 mark of the second half. Will 8:44 to go Trevecca held a 76-62 lead. The Blazers ran off a 11-2 run to close the gap to just 5 points with 5:37 to go. Trevecca would never let the Blazers closer than 4 points, but could never seem to put the Blazers totally away until the final seconds. Trevecca settled for a 97-91 victory over the stubborn Blazers.

Marshall "Bootsy" Hyler led the Trojans with a career high 34 points. Hyler also added 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and led the team with 3 steals. Wesley Poe added 16 points and grabbed 10 boards for a double-double. Poe also had a game high 4 blocks and added 2 steals and 3 assists. Darryl Keckler scored 19 points, had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a block. Curtis Lewis started at point guard for the injured Will Partin and led the team with 5 assists and 3 steals. Lewis also added 16 points. Trevecca hit 37 of 64 (58%) from the field, 6 of 18 (33%) from three-point range, and hit 17 of 26 (65%) from the foul line.
