Cleveland, TN. (02/21/20)- The Trevecca Trojans put together one of their
most complete games of the season in upsetting Lee 93-87 on the road. Neither
team was able to take command of the game in the first half as neither was able
to build more than a 6 point lead. The Trojans came out on top in the first
half, leading 47-46 heading into the locker room. The story was no different in
the second half, as both teams fought through a back and forth pace for the
first 12 minutes. Lee put together a run and went ahead 73-67 with 8 minutes
remaining. The Trojans came right back with a 6-0 run to tie the game at 73.
The Trojans took the lead at 77-76 with 5 minutes remaining and would never
trail again. Lee closed the gap to 1 at 85-84 with two and a half minutes
remaining but the Trojans outscored Lee the rest of the way 6-3 to take the
93-87 victory.
Jared Austin had his fourth double-double of the season and he led Trevecca
in both points and rebounds as he scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Marshall Hyler added 21 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Wesley Poe scored 15
points and pulled down four rebounds for Trevecca. Will Partin's 13 points
rounded out four Trojans in double figures. Partin also had 4 assists and 6
steals. Curtis Lewis scored 9 points and hit 4 free throws in the closing
seconds to seal the Trevecca victory.
As a team, the Trojans shot the ball well all game long, as they hit on 35
of 67 attempts for 52.2%. The Trojans hit on 5 of 16 shots from the three point
line for 31.3% and finished at 18 of 24 from the free throw line for 75%.
Trevecca and Lee each pulled down 42 rebounds in the game. The Trojans forced
Lee into 15 turnovers and held Lee to 44.7% shooting from the field and only
17.6% shooting from the three point line on 3 of 17 shooting.
Coming into this game, Lee had won 8 of 9 games and had also won the last
three versus Trevecca, including a 78-76 victory at Trevecca earlier this
month.
