TREVECCA VS. #23 MARTIN METHODIST

Moore Gym (02/16/02) - The first 12 minutes of the game were as close as anyone could hope for as neither team would hold more than a 3 point lead. Martin pulled ahead 26-20 with 7:43 left in the first half after freshmen Adam Darragh hit a three-pointer. Trevecca rallied though and pulled ahead by three with a 9-0 run. Jared Austin scored 7 of the Trojans 9 points in the surge. After Trevecca gained the 29-26 lead, Martin finished the half with a 11-5 run that gave the Indians a 37-34 half time advantage.

The two teams continued the close play until Martin pulled ahead by 7 (53-46) with 9:17 remaining in the game. Jared Austin led the rally again as he scored 3 points and added an assist on a Marshall Hyler three pointer that pulled Trevecca to within 1 point (53-52) with 8:22 to go in the game. With 2:50 to go in the game and Trevecca trailing by 3, Martin put the finishing touches on the game with a 7-0 run. The Indian burst gave the visitors a 69-59 advantage with 1:06 to go in the game. Martin Methodist held on to pull off the 73-63 victory.

Trevecca hit 25-of-56 (44.6%) from the field, 3-of-16 (18.8%) from three-point range, and 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the foul line. Martin won the battle of the boards 40-27. Wesley Poe completed his 4th double-double in a row with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The double-double is his 6th of the year overall. Poe also added 2 blocks and a steal to his totals. Jared Austin and Marshall Hyler led the team with 17 points. Austin added 6 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Hyler added 4 boards to his totals. Will Partin led the team with 4 assists and had a steal too.

The Trojans fell to 14-13 overall and 1-9 in the conference.
