Mayfield, KY. (12/1301) - Trevecca started the game with a 18-6
run, that put the team up by 12 points with 15:48 to play in the first half.
With 10:05 remaining in the first half and TNU leading 29-17 the Trojans poured
it on again. This time Trevecca ripped off a 16-2 run that put the Trojans in
front of Mid-Continent by 26 points (45-19) with 6:24 to go in the half.
Trevecca continued to push through the remainder of the half and led by 18
points (59-41) at the break.
Neither team could do much to change the halftime margin
through the first 10 minutes of the second half. With 9:51 to go in the game
Trevecca led 80-64 and were ready to make a run that would put the game out of
reach for good. The Trojans outscored the Cougars 20-4 run that put TNU up
100-68 (32 points) with 4:14 to go in the game. The Trojans would go on to
claim their 9th win of the year with a 110-82 victory.
Wesley Poe had a career night. The freshman from Jackson,
Tennessee led the team with 27 points, 4 blocks and 4 dunks. Poe also grabbed 6
rebounds and hit 10 of 11 shots from the field. The 4 dunks ties the Trevecca
record for dunks in a game. Jared Austin hit 7 of 8 shots from the field in
scoring his season high 19 points. Austin also grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the
Trojans in that category. Will Partin scored 14 and dished out a team high 9
assists and 4 steals. Bootsy Hyler scored 11 for the Trojans on the road.
TNU out rebounded MCC 44 to 38 and forced 22 turnovers with 12
steals. Trevecca hit 41 of 77 (53.2%) from the field, 5 of 17 (29.4%) from
three-point range, and 21 of 28 (75%) from the foul line.
Trevecca will travel to Lambuth University in Jackson,
Tennessee for a 3:00 p.m. game with the Eagles. Trevecca defeated Lambuth 79-58
at Moore Gym in November.
