Trevecca vs. Free Will Baptist 

Moore Gym (12/01/01) - Free Will Baptist College started the game with a 14-9 run to post a 5-point lead with 14:20 remaining in the first half. Trevecca rallied and outscored the Flames 23-6 over the next 7 minutes and claimed a 34-20 lead with 7:40 remaining in the half. Free Will actually cut the lead to 5 before Trevecca eased the lead to 10 (48-38) at the half.

Both teams exchanged mini runs to start the second half before Free Will cut the Trojans lead to just 7 points (59-52) with 15:39 remaining in the game. Trevecca established it's strength with a 18-2 run over the next 4 minutes of play and erased any doubt by claiming a 23-point 77-54 lead with 11:50 to go. With Trevecca leading by 20 points (85-65) and 8:05 remaining in the game. The Trojans outscored the Flames 34-9 over the remainder of the game to secure the 117-74 victory.

The game was Trevecca's 1,000 men's basketball game and gave the Trojans a 494-506 all-time record. The victory was the 275th in the career of Sam Harris, his 115th at Trevecca. Five Trojans scored in double figures, while 12 players scored in all. Trevecca shot 42 of 69 (60.9%) from the field, 11 of 24 (45.8%) from three point range, and 22 of 36 (61.1%) from the foul line. Trevecca dominated the boards grabbing 58 to Free Will's 26. Trevecca forced 23 Flame turnovers with 16 steals and 6 blocks.

Marshall Hyler, Booker Warren, and Curtis Lewis combined for 64 points. Hyler and Warren scored 22 apiece. Jared Austin led the team with 11 rebounds. Warren added 9 and Hyler secured 7 rebounds. Brandon Howard led the team with 7 assists. Will Partin scored 17 points, had a team high 4 steals and hit 4 of 6 three-point attempts. Darryl Keckler led the team with 3 blocks and added 3 assists and 2 steals. Hyler added 3 steals to his totals.

Trevecca will next travel to Indiana to play in the Indiana Wesleyan Tournament. Trevecca will play Oklahoma Wesleyan (formerly Bartlesville Wesleyan) College on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The winner will play in the championship game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Michael Johnson will broadcast both games over 89.1 and 91.5 Life FM.
