Trevecca Makes TSAC Finals, Cameron voted MVP

Birmingham, AL (11-11-00) Trevecca Nazarene University’s volleyball team shocked the conference by making its way to the championship game of the 2000 TranSouth Athletic Conference tournament championship game.

The Lady Trojans started the Tournament as the 4th seed and defeated host Birmingham-Southern College 15-8, 15-9, 15-13. Trevecca then fell 15-2, 15-7, 15-6 to top seed Union University. Then in the elimination bracket the Lady Trojans defeated and eliminated Freed-Hardeman University 15-5, 8-15, 15-12, 15-6 to end Friday's action.

Saturday started with a 8-15, 15-13, 15-7, 15-6 elimination of Martin Methodist College. The Lady Trojans had to turn around and play top-seed Union for a second time. Trevecca won a thrilling five-set match to eliminate the Lady Bulldogs 1-15, 15-11, 6-15, 15-12, 15-11. The ladies moved to the championship match and took the first two sets before falling to Lee University 13-15, 8-15, 15-7, 15-7, 15-7.

Sophomore Natalie Cameron was selected as the tournament's most valuable player, and junior Michelle Arend was voted to the all-tournament team.
