Lady Trojans suffer first loss of season

Nashville, TN (11-10-00) - The
11th-ranked Trevecca Nazarene University Lady Trojans suffered their
first loss of the season in the opening round of the Pikeville College
Tournament. The Lady Trojans seemed to be in control after
hitting 50% of their shots in the first half. Trevecca also hit
7 of 8 shots from the foul line and held a 40-33 lead at the half.
Things changed dramatically in the
second half. Shawnee State outscored the Lady Trojans 38-21 in
the second half and held Trevecca to just 8 of 26 shooting from the
field, 2 of 10 from three-point range and 3 of 9 from the foul
line. Shawnee State on the other hand hit 14 of 28 free throw
attempts in the second half alone. For the game Shawnee State
hit 29 of 46 shots from the foul line. Trevecca was whistled for
31 fouls in the game as Stephanie Arnett and Sara Menees both fouled
out. Shawnee State also dominated on the boards as they controlled
54 missed shots to Trevecca's 39.
Molly Schoenberg scored 9 points and led the
team with 11 rebounds. Schoenberg was also credited with 4
blocks in the game. Stephanie Arnett led the team with 14 points
and claimed 6 rebounds. Jennifer Wilson scored 11 points, had 2
steals and 4 rebounds in the game.
Trevecca hit 24 of 58 (41.4%) from the
field, 3 of 18 (16.7%) from three-point range, and 19 of 17 (58.8%) from
the foul line.
