Union surrenders to Lady Trojans

Nashville, TN (11-6-00) - The 11th-ranked Trevecca Nazarene University Lady Trojans welcomed 2-0 Union College into Moore Gym for a Monday night match up. Union jumped out to a 3-2 lead, but the Lady Bulldogs would never lead again. Trevecca ran off eight straight to claim a 10-8 lead with 15:48 to go in the first half. The Lady Trojans would continue to build on their lead throughout the first half and found themselves with a 41-25 halftime lead.

Things didn't change in the second half; in fact, Trevecca's domination increased as the women outscored Union 59-27 in the second half and finished the game with a 100-52 victory. With 0:46 remaining on the game clock TNU held their largest lead at 100-49 (51 points).

Senior Molly Schoenberg led the Lady Trojans in scoring with 20 points and hit 8 of 10 shots from the floor. Schoenberg added 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal. Ashley Boykin came off the bench to score 17 points and grab 4 rebounds. Liberty University transfer Charity Williams scored 15 points and snagged 5 rebounds. Williams was 6 for 6 from the field and had 2 assists. Jennifer Wilson scored 14 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. Freshman Audrey Leatherman led the team with 4 steals and scored 9 points off the bench.

Trevecca hit 34 of 54 (63.%) from the field, 2 of 5 (40%) from three-point range, and 30 of 42 (71.4%) from the foul line. TNU out rebounded UC 39 to 24. Trevecca forced 37 Union turnovers with 16 steals.

The 100 points is the second most points scored in a game in Trevecca women's basketball history.
