Nashville, TN - (11-3-00) - The
Trevecca Nazarene University Lady Trojans basketball team picked up
where they left off last season with a resounding victory over
Biola University. Jennifer Wilson, a second-team NAIA
All-American last year, scored the team's first basket of the
year. The team started with a 13-0 run and never looked back.
Trevecca led 26-2 with 5:40 to go in the first half and held a
36-8 halftime lead.
In the second half the Lady Trojans
continued to dominate and outscored Biola 41-22 to claim a
homecoming crowd-pleasing 77-30 victory. The victory gives
Trevecca its 6 consecutive home victory.
Jennifer Wilson led the team with 23
points and 4 assists. Molly Schoenberg led the team with 5
steals, scored 16 points, and finished with 7 rebounds. Jamie
Mills led the team with 9 rebounds and pitched in 2 steals and 3
assists. Holly Carter added 4 assists, and Sara Meness
contributed 4 steals.
The Lady Trojans grabbed 41 rebounds,
hit 30 of 72 (41.7%) field goals, 2 of 16 (12.5%) three-point
attempts, and 15 of 23 (65.2%) from the foul line. Treveca also
picked up 19 steals, only had 10 turnovers while forcing Biola
into 38 turnovers, and held them to just 5 steals. Biola only
managed to hit 13 of 50 (26.0%) field goal attempts, 2 of 6
(33.3%) from three-point range, and 2 of 6 (33.3%) from the foul line.
