Nashville, TN (12/16/00)--Brescia had never
defeated Trevecca prior to this season. Trevecca had won all of
the three previous meetings between the two schools in women's
basketball. Brescia has made up for lost time with two wins this
season. Brescia completed the season sweep with a 73-63 win at
Trevecca's Moore Gym.
The Lady Trojans started the game with a 6-0 run
before Brescia answered with a 8-0 run to take the lead. After
Trevecca tied the game at eight apiece, Brescia ran off seven straight
points to reclaim the lead. Brescia held the lead until Trevecca
tied the game at 25 with 2:46 remaining in the first half.
Trevecca then managed to take the lead and led 31-29 at the halftime
break.
Trevecca started the second half with a Charity
Williams layup, but Brescia wouldn't be fazed and rallied to reclaim the
lead at 34-33. Both teams exchanged the lead for the next few
minutes. Brescia took control of the game after taking the lead
(41-38) for good with 15:58 remaining in the game.
Trevecca hit 23 of 55 (41.8%) from the field, 4 of
12 (33.3%) from three-point range, and 13 of 15 (86.7%) from the foul
line. Brescia won the battle of the boards 37-30.
Jennifer Wilson led the Lady Trojans with 17
points and 5 rebounds. Wilson also grabbed 5 rebounds and had a
block in the game. Molly Schoenberg scored 16 points and grabbed 4
rebounds and added a block to her totals. Ashley Boykin scored 12
points and had a steal. Stephanie Arnett led the team with 7
rebounds.
