Jackson, TN (01/16/01)-Union started the first
half with three-point bombs flying all over Delay Gym. Mary
Catherine Way hit 6 three-point bombs alone in the first half.
Union built a double figure lead a couple of times in the first half
only to see Trevecca rally back. The Trojans were never able to
pull even or take the lead, but closed the gap to just two points
(38-36) at the halftime break.
Union continued to hold the lead throughout
the second half and continued to drop in three-point bombs. Mary
Catherine Way hit a totall of 8 three-point shots in the game.
Union hit 12 as a team. Trevecca hit 6 three-point shots, 4 of
them coming in the second half. Trevecca stayed close, but could
never quite take their runs far enough to gain the lead. Union
was able to hit its free throws in the final two minutes and held on
for a 84-73 victory.
Trevecca hit 27 of 57 (47.4%) from the field,
6 of 19 (31.6 %) from three-point range, and 13 of 20 (65.0%) from the
foul line. Union won the battle of the boards 33-30. Trevecca
turned the ball over 22 times, while they forced Union into 20 miscues
with 8 steals.
Jennifer Wilson led the Lady Trojans with 23
points and added 5 rebounds to her totals. Molly Schoenberg
scored 18 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. Holly Carter scored 15
points and dished out 5 assists. Charity Williams and Stephanie
Arnett led the team with 6 rebounds. Sara Menees added 3
steals. Jamie Mills led the team with 6 assists.
