Nashville, TN (01/13/01)-Trevecca hosted Lyon
College for their second TranSouth game of the year with hopes of
going 2-0 in conference play.
Lyon came out on fire in the first half before
letting the Lady Trojans take control midway through the first
half. With Lyon leading 19-17, Trevecca ran off a 19-2 run to
pull ahead 36-21. Lyon would score the final 6 points of the
first half and pulled to within 9 (36-27) at halftime.
In the second half Lyon continued to make a
run at the Lady Trojans and pulled to within 1 (51-50) with 12:20 left in the
game. Trevecca rallied and pulled away again with a 26-9 run. The run gave the Lady Trojans a
18 point (77-59) lead to seal the win.
Trevecca hit 30 of 66 (45.5%) from the field,
3 of 8 (37.5 %) from three-point range, and 16 of 22 (72.7%) from the
foul line. Trevecca won the battle of the boards 42-37 and forced the
Pipers into 25 turnovers with 19 steals. Trevecca only turned
the ball over 15 times in the game.
Ashley Boykin led the Lady Trojans in scoring
for the second game in a row with 19 points. Jennifer Wilson
added 18 points and 6 rebounds. Wilson, Molly Schoenberg and
Audrey Leatherman led the team with 3 assists. Charity Williams
led the team with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Williams also scored
8 points and was credited with 2 steals. Stephanie Arnett scored
14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Jamie Mills and Sara Menees
led the team with 4 steals. Mills also scored 6 points and
dished out 2 assists. Molly Schoenberg scores 12 points, had 3
steals, and grabbed 5 rebounds.
