Conference season started at Moore Gym as Blue Mountain visited the
Lady Trojans. Both teams came into the contest below .500 on the
season and looking to start the "second season" on the right
foot.
Blue Mountain jumped out to a 4-3 lead, but it
would be short lived. The Lady Trojans rolled off a 22-2 run that gave
them control of the game for good. With 8:50 to go in the first half,
Trevecca led 25-6. Another 15-3 run gave the Lady Trojans a 40-9 lead
with 3:34 remaining in the first half. Trevecca ended the first half
with a 48-14 lead.
In the second half the Lady Trojans extended
their lead, ending with a final margin (53) of 90-37. Trevecca picked
up its 7th win of the year and the first TranSouth win of the season.
Trevecca hit 34 of 71 (47.9%) from the field,
3 of 11 (27.3 %) from three-point range, and 19 of 26 (73.1%) from the
foul line. Blue Mountain won the battle of the boards 41-38, while
Trevecca forced the Toppers into 43 turnovers with 20 steals. Trevecca
turned the ball over 13 times and had 22 assists.
Ashley Boykin led the Lady Trojans with 14
points and had 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 rebounds. Charity Williams
and Jennifer Wilson scored 13 points each. Wilson added 5 rebounds and
had 2 assists and 1 steal. Williams had 4 rebounds, 4 steals and
assists. Molly Schoenberg had 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Audrey Leatherman scored 11 points, had 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2
steals. Sara Menees led the team with 4 assists and hit 2 three-point
shots in the game.
