Marietta, GA (01/05/01)--Trevecca started the
Life University Classic with a romp over the Converse College
All-Stars. Converse is a all women's college in Spartanburg, South
Carolina.
Trevecca scored the games first 13 points
before allowing Converse its first basket at the 13:38 mark of the
first half. Trevecca continued to build its lead throughout the first
half. With 57 seconds left in the first half, Trevecca held its
largest lead (31) of the first half at 45-14 and held a (29-point)
47-18 halftime lead.
The second half mirrored the first half in
that Trevecca extended its lead and never let Converse into the game
at any point in the second half. The largest margin in the game was
actually the final score. Trevecca defeated Converse 91-39 (52 points)
for the Lady Trojans' sixth win of the year.
Jennifer Wilson led the Lady Trojans with 23
points and added 7 rebounds and 3 steals to her totals. Charity
Williams hit all 10 of her free-throw attempts and finished the game
with a double-double. Williams scored 16 points and grabbed 11
rebounds in the game, her second double-double of the year. Molly
Schoenberg scored 12 points and snagged 8 rebounds in the win. Jamie
Mills led the team with 5 steals and dished out 3 assists. Holly
Carter and Sara Menees led the team with 5 assists each. Carter also
added 8 points to her totals.
Trevecca hit 31 of 72 (43.1%) shots from the
field, 5 of 13 (38.5%) from the foul line, and 24 of 30 (80.0%) from
the foul line in the game. Trevecca won the battle of the boards 48-35
and forced Converse into 33 turnovers with 16 steals. Trevecca
committed only 12 turnovers.
