Nashville, Tennessee (02/22/01)-Trevecca won
for the 9th time in their last 10 games with a 77-68 victory over Lee
University. Trevecca didn't make it easy on themselves as they
were never able to pull away to a comfortable lead over the 17-16
Flames. Trevecca started the game with a 12-4 run, but Lee
battled back to pull to within 2 points (12-10) with 13:08 to go in
the first half. Later (5:23 remaining in the first half) Lee
tied the game at 23. Trevecca pulled away again and held a 36-30
at halftime.
Trevecca built on its lead in the second half
and led 48-35 with 15:38 to go in the game. Though the Lady
Trojans could never pull ahead by more than 15 points, Lee could never
cut the lead under 7 points. Trevecca held on to beat Lee 77-68.
Trevecca hit 25 of 60 (41.7%) from the field,
6 of 17 (35.3 %) from three-point range, and 21 of 31 (67.7%) from the
foul line. Trevecca won the battle of the boards 41-38.
Trevecca forced Lee into 20 turnovers with 8 steals.
Molly Schoenberg led the team with 23 points
and grabbed 8 rebounds. Schoenberg also dished out 2 assists and
had a block and steal in the game. Schoenberg now has 80
offensive rebounds this season, which breaks her own record for
offensive rebounds in a season. Jennifer Wilson became the first
women's player in Trevecca history to reach the 1,000 point mark with
her 22 points tonight. Wilson also dished out 5 assists in the
game and hit 3 of 6 three-point attempts. Charity Williams
grabbed a game high 12 rebounds and a team high 2 blocks. Ashley
Boykin scored 13 points and had a team high 3 steals. Holly
Carter scored 10 points and had 4 assists.
