Nashville, TN (02/15/01)-In what is their
biggest win of the year, the Lady Trojans made sure the Lady Lions
never felt like they were really in the game. The win came at a
time when the Lady Trojans couldn't afford another loss to have
serious postseason hopes. Stephanie Arnett also made the night
memorable with a Trevecca record.
Trevecca started the game with a 7-2 run, that
turned into a 17-7 lead with 13:21 remaining in the first half.
Freed would rally and close the gap to just 1-point (19-18) with 8:10
remaining in the first half. A 14-4 run by the Lady Trojans
extended their lead to 11 points (33-22) with 2:40 to go in the
half. Trevecca lead at the half 38-27.
The second half saw the Lady Trojans continue
to pull away and never led Freed get closer than the halftime
margin. Trevecca would eventually build a 67-43 (24-point) lead
with 6:48 remaining in the game. The Lady Trojans would hold on
to win 77-62. It was the 6th win in the last 7 games for the
Lady Trojans and evened the all-time series as 4 games apiece between
the two schools. Stephanie Arnett ended the game with 6 rebounds
giving her 466, 6 better than Carrie Hook and making Arnett the
Trevecca women's basketball career rebound leader.
Trevecca hit 30 of 67 (44.8%) from the field,
4 of 15 (26.7 %) from three-point range, and 13 of 19 (68.4%) from the
foul line. Trevecca forced Freed into 27 turnovers with 19
steals. Both teams ended the game with 39 rebounds.
Molly Schoenberg scored 21 points and grabbed
8 rebounds. Schoenberg also had 4 steals for the game.
Jennifer Wilson had 14 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Charity
Williams scored 12 points and had a team high 9 rebounds. Ashley
Boykin scored 10 points. Jamie Mills scored 6 points, grabbed 7
rebounds, and a had a team high 6 steals. Holly Carter had a
team high 8 rebounds.
