Run Tops Trojans
Athens State 91 Trevecca 80
Campbellsville, Ky. (11/25/00)-The
Trojans dropped their second game in two days wgeb they fell to
Athens State 91-80 in a game marred by fouls. Trevecca was whistled
for 23 fouls while Athens State committed 27.
Athens State started the game with
a 14-0 run and put the Trojans in a comeback mode. Trevecca closed
the game to just 5 points (47-42) at halftime. Trevecca tied the
game midway through the second half, but a 9-0 run to end the game
sealed the victory for Athens State.
Trevecca was led in scoring by
Michael Blivens and Will Partin who each had 19 points. Partin also
led the Trojans on the boards--pulling down 5 rebounds. Blivens and
Partin both dealt out 3 assists to the team in that category too.
Freshman Nick Ray added 15 points for the second game in a row and
rallied the Trojans with some big three-point shots. Partin had a
team-high 4 steals in the game.
Trevecca hit 24 of 58 (41.4%) from
the field, 9 of 26 (34.6%) from beyond the three-point line, and hit
23 of 31 (74.2%) from the charity strip. Athens State won the battle
of the boards (44-34) and forced the Trojans' 21 turnovers while the
Trojans forced Athens State into 22 miscues.
