Tigers Roll Over Trojans

Nashville, TN (12/22/00)--Trevecca strolled
across town to the Gentry Center to play the Tigers for just the
second time in school history. The Trojans lost two years ago
by 16 at the Gentry Center. Tonight the Trojans would hang
close, but ran out of gas in the second half.
With 8:10 remaining in the first half
Trevecca held a 23-19 lead. With 6:23 remaining in the first
half Trevecca was still on top of Tennessee State 28-27. TSU
would gain control of the game at this point rolling off a 21-2
run. TSU led 46-30 at the half and added a two point basket to
start the second half to claim a 18 point lead.
With 16:24 to go in the game TSU held a
55-38 (17 point) lead. Trevecca made another run at that
Tigers and outscored the host team 13-3 to pull within seven points
(58-51) with 12:23 remaining in the game. TSU would respond
and slowly pulled away again to secure their third win of the year.
Trevecca hit 30 of 75 (40.0%) from the
field, 7 of 25 (28.0%) from three-point range, and 11 of 13 (84.6%)
from the foul line. Tennessee State controlled the rebounding edge
42-37 and forced the Trojans into 22 turnovers with 11 steals.
Trevecca forced TSU into 19 turnovers with 11 steals of their own.
Michael Blivens scored a game high 30 points
hitting 13 of 25 shots from the field. Darryl Keckler was the
only other Trojan in double figures with 13 points. Keckler
led the team with three steals in the game. Jared Austin led
the team with 11 rebounds and added 7 points to the tally.
Eric Addie led the team with 5 assists.
