Methodist came out on fire with a 15-7 run over the first 7:28 of
the first half. Trevecca responded with a 15-0 run that put
the Trojans ahead by 7 (22-15) points with 9:17 remaining in the
first half. Trevecca held onto the lead until Martin held a
short 1-point (31-30) lead with 1:48 remaining in the first
half. Trevecca bounced back again and rolled off 7 unanswered
points to end the first half. Trevecca held a 37-31 lead at
halftime.
Trevecca slowly built its lead in
the second half and found themselves up by 19 points (57-38) with
12:15 remaining in the game. Martin Methodist rallied with 3
consecutive three-point shots. With the lead just 10 points,
Trevecca responded again. This time it was 8 straight points
to regain the momentum. The closest the Indians would get
again, would be the 13 point margin at the end of the
game.
Trevecca hit 27 of 56 (48.2%) from
the field, 7 of 14 (50.0%) from three-point range, and 22 of 26
(84.6%) from the foul line. Each team had 36 rebounds, while
the Trojans forced Martin into 18 turnovers with 6
steals.
Jared Austin had his fifth
double-double of the season as he scored 25 points and grabbed 11
rebounds. Jared Austin hit 7 of 8 from the field and hit 11
consecutive free throws after missing his first 4 charity
attempts. Michael Blivens scored 29 points and had 2 steals, 2
assists, and 5 rebounds. Will Partin hit for 10 points and led
the team with 2 blocks and 5 assists. Partin also added 2
steals. Darryl Keckler had 4 assists and 6
rebounds.
