Michael Blivens set a Trevecca record by becoming the fastest to
reach the 1,000 point mark. Blivens broke the record held by
Sandy McClain. McClain scored his 1,000th point in his 54th
game, while Blivens scored his 51st game.
Union started the game by slowly pulling
ahead in the first half. Union built a 13 point lead, but the
Trojans would keep the Bulldogs close and within reach with Michael
Blivens scoring 20 points in the first half. Trevecca was
playing without Eric Addie for most of the game. Addie
started, but only played 4 minutes in the game. Union held a
48-38 first half lead.
In the second half Trevecca continued to
stay close and eventually took the lead late in the game.
Union was able to tie the game and regulation ended with both teams
tied at 80.
Trevecca took the lead in OT, but Union
rallied and pulled ahead and held on for a 92-90 margin.
Trevecca hit 32 of 69 (46.4%) from the
field, 9 of 26 (34.6%) from three-point range, and 17 of 20 (85.0%)
from the foul line. Union won the battle of the boards 40-29,
Trevecca forced 23 turnovers with 16 steals in the game.
Michael Blivens scored a career high 37
points and added 7 rebounds and a game high 8 steals. Blivens
also added 4 offensive rebounds. Jared Austin just missed his
5th double-double with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Austin also
added 2 steals, a block and 4 assists. Will Partin scored 13
points and had 3 assists. Corey Lucas had 5 steals and 2
assists.
