(2/22/01)-Trevecca was looking to defend its 12 game home winning
streak. Lee was looking to lock down the TranSouth regular
season championship. Lee had their wish come true as the
Trojans couldn't hold off the 10th ranked Flames. The game
started with a 5-0 run by Trevecca, then Lee answered with the
same. Trevecca ran off 4 more unanswered points, then Lee tied
the game at 9 with 4 straight of their own. In all the two
teams were tied 7 times in the first half. Lee was able to
pull away for a 41-35 halftime lead with a 17-6 run to close the
half.
Lee held a 5 to 9 point lead until
they pulled away to a 10-point (72-62) lead with 8:17 to go in the
game. Trevecca rallied one more time and cut the lead to 7
points, but Lee bounced back and pulled away again to a double digit
lead and held on for a 103-88 victory. The win secured the
TranSouth Championship and broke the 12 game home winning streak for
the Trojans. It was the first home loss of the season for
Trevecca.
Trevecca hit 24 of 54 (44.4%) from
the field, 5 of 18 (27.8%) from three-point range, and 35 of 39
(89.7%) from the foul line. Lee won the battle of the boards
35-33 and forced Trevecca into 31 turnovers with 11 steals.
Lee turned the ball over 22 times with Trevecca taking the ball away
11 times.
Jared Austin led the team with 21
points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Eric Addie, Michael Blivens,
and Jeremy Austin all scored 13 points, while Curtis Lewis came off
the bench to score 12 points. Jeremy Austin led the team with
4 assists. Jeremy Austin and Darryl Keckler led the team with
3 steals apiece. Michael Blivens led the team with 8
rebounds.
