(2/10/01)-Union started the game on fire. The 16th ranked
Bulldogs started the game with a 7-2 run and led 15-11 with 13:40 to
go in the first half. Trevecca turned the game around with a
14-1 run that put the Trojans ahead for good with 9:00 to go in the
first half. Union pulled to within two points (30-28) with
4:15 to go in the half, but the Trojans bounced back and outscored
Union 9-7 over the remainder of the half to lead 39-35 at the
break.
Trevecca built its lead to double
figures early in the second half, but Union rallied and closed to
within 7 points (63-56) with 8:27 to go in the game. The
Trojans erased all doubt as they responded with a 7-0 run to claim a
14-point (70-56) lead with 6:54 to go in the game. Union would
never close to within single digits again in the game and the
Trojans walked away with a 19-point 83-64 victory.
Trevecca hit 26 of 54 (48.1%) from
the field, 10 of 28 (35.7%) from three-point range, and 21 of 27
(77.8%) from the foul line. Union won the rebounding battle
37-32, but the Trojans forced Union into 18 turnovers with 7
steals. Trevecca only turned the ball over 11 times as Union
had 5 steals in the game.
Michael Blivens led the Trojans
with 30 points and completed his 4th double-double of the year
with 10 rebounds. Blivens hit 4 of 7 three-point shots, 10 of
16 from the field and 6 of 8 from the foul line. It was his
sixth game with at least 30 points this year and his 14th game of at
least 20 points this season. Blivens also led the team with 3
steals. Eric Addie scored 18 points and hit 5 of 7 three-point
tries. Addie and Darryl Keckler led the team with 5 assists
apiece.
